new name added to deed

My friend and her husband have been married for 10 years and have a mortgage on a house. It is in his name only as she does not work. I do not work but me and my husband own the house together and the morgage is in both names. She is concerned that her name is not on the deeds. He told her that it would cost about £4000 to add her name to the deeds. This sounds excessive to me. What do others think. Anyone have any experience of this.

Thanks
Wendy

    this might help HERE

it doesn't cost much really but they could have problems with stamp-duty etc

if the house isn't worth loads then it's only approx £200 to do it,depending on the lender they are with.
