    insider infomation :)
little background i applyed for a job at natwest back and got showed how there system works
there backoffice program will pre approve you for loans etc.. so when u go to the counter and the casher checks this and says oh there is a note on the account please go and have a word with one of the accounts managers... no such note exists its the casheer trying to get you to chat to a sales advisor to sell you something

same with the telephone advisors they will tell you its something they want you to go to the branch for as they cannot talk about it over the phone...
i never attend unless i want something

Well I got them with LTSB, but after twice saying "No, I'm not interested." and "No, I'm not coming in." they gave up. I get the occasional smarmy person on the front desk saying "We can help you save that." but as a whole, they've stopped trying.

you don't have to have them, just say no - the staff don't like pushing them - if more customers complained to the managers about the cashiers trying to sell them stuff then maybe the powers that be would take notice 'cos they don't listen to the staff

thanks virgin moneysaver, i do say no, but getting phone calls every month from the 'advisors' is
  • I know, just be persistant. If I approach a customer about a product & they don't take it up I get a b*****king, as far as they are concerned it's not that the customer didn't want it, it's that I didn't sell it right - when i joined many moons ago there was no such thing as marketing/sales in banks, it was all about service & I won't sell something that the customer doesn't want, it just don't sit right with me
