Job Offer - Contract Questions

Hi All,
I've been offered a job in another city. Accepting this job will involve committing to renting some accommodation, paying the deposit etc.
The company who've offered me the job have sent me a short letter outlining Terms and Conditions - Namely Salary, Training & Development plan, and annual leave entitlement. They haven't mentioned anything about sick pay,though I was told at the interview that it would be full pay.
Having predominantly worked for big corps before, I've received huge multi-page contracts. This one is a single page of A4. Will it still be legally binding and where do I stand? Should I ask for them to send me written clarification of their sickness policy?

Congrats on the job offer. Hope the following helps...
The terms of a contract may not necessarily be contained in one document, but may be in a number places (eg job ad, staff handbook/manual, policy documents, announcements on a noticeboard etc). Or they may not be written at all, but have been agreed between you and your employer.
Is there anything written in your letter about handbooks/policies etc that form part of your contract.
If so you should be entitled to see this or be given one personally.
If it doesnt say so in letter I think a quick call to company to ask about it.
If they don't have these, I would ask them to clarify other benefits eg holiday entitlements, parental leave, sick pay etc etc and mention you agreed sick pay at interview and you just wanted to make sure this was correct.0 -
The law requires an employer to provide certain terms of the employment contract in writing within two months of the start of employment (not before it starts although of course that is not uncommon). This includes indicating what the rules are about sick pay or at least where information about sick pay can be found.0
