re DIPs and AIPs, the essential thing is what question you're asking. If it's 'will you lend to me' then that's usually treated as an application and you can expect to find an application search on your credit report.

Can I jump in on this one as I'd like clarification too - I had a mortgage promise from halifax, it showed as a mortgage quotation on my experian file under searches. I came back with a 'B' pass with halifax.
I then went on to read on here that the halifax AIPs weren't really worth the paper they were printed on and people quite often failed the full check when submitting a full application.

So, with this search being recorded on my credit file, did halifax carry out a full search, meaning a full application is likely to be accepted or could this still be a soft search and this record merely a 'footprint'

Sorry for hijacking the thread! :)

How ever no search is showing on my experian file except the original one from last week, could you please tell me how long it should take on experian to show a search had been done . i looked on all the help tabs on the website how ever this question is not in there.

Hi was wondering how far a lender would look back into your credit file ?
for example if u had a very good record for the last 3 years but not so great before that ?

So i guess im asking after how long do missed payments defults etc really effect an application,

i guess there is a cut off like 1 or 2 years etc when a missed payment is less likely to effect a decision .

If you are looking for a bad credit auto financing, most of the firms looks your current situation. They understands your situation and give you loan accordingly. They may not check your past life.
