I have just put in a claim for ESA, I have only just sent off my proof off from my doctor to the DWP but from next week I wont have any money. so While the claim is being processed is there any way that I can receive any sort of payment from them while I am waiting for a decision it is only for a short term. would be great if any one can help as I am worried I will be left without I can not take out a crisis loan either (I have a partner and my one year old son living with me) I will appreciate any help.

You may be able to get a short term benefit advance. What other household income do you have, and what were you doing for income up to now?0

Where would it leave you if an advance were provided then you are subsequently found fit for work?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I was looking for a job for about four months and then my adviser told me to go on ESA for a short time. and I am receiving housing benefits.0

What other household income do you have? Can I ask what you are claiming for - if it is something short term, can you seek work at the same time? It would seem a lot of hassle to make a new claim for a short term problem.0 -

Yes - you don't have to say at all, but more to consider that if the problem is short term, it may be easier to continue with your JSA claim. For instance, if you have a broken leg, you could still seek sedentary work. Also worth noting that in order to claim ESA for more than thirteen weeks you will need to pass a pretty complex assessment, so you need to look into whether you are likely to pass this or not.
I'm not suggesting that you should not claim, but rather that it might be easier to stay as you are.0 -

You ask the DWP to provide you with some money in anticipation of an ESA award, you then find out your claim has been denied and you are placed into the job market. What would happen at this point with the money you would have been given (clawed back from JSA?).Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I get really bad head aches and migraines and I keep fainting when ever I get an attack my adviser was the one who told me to go on it. I am waiting to see a neorosurgion to see how they can help. I just need to make sure I am not going to be left with no income while they processe my claim So i am unsure what to ask them when I ring up. I have all ready closed my JSA.0

A STBA will only be granted if (amongst other criteria) the claim is likely to succeed. Remember it takes up to thirteen weeks for the WCA to be completed, and in this time the OP will pass the medical criteria on the basis of their doctors note.0
