Credit Report Advice

Hi,
Trying to get things in order and i have a few CR related questions..
I just cleared a defaulted debt, so this will be marked as settled, this i understand, but can anyone advise on if this still takes 6 years to drop off my file and if so how bad will a settled default be perceived?
I have another default which was first registered on 10.05.2007 so 6 years is almost up on that, its unsettled and they have registered a default every 3 months on that account... will it really drop off if they are still registering defaults? (ie. does it only count the first registered default date?)
I have a ridiculous amount of duplicated linked addresses in there, there are like 30-40 of them! do these impact?
If you have an arrangement with a creditor to not make payments for 3 months and then they mark your file to say you haven't made a payment, is it correct of them to do this? i was not made aware when i asked for the payment break that they would be reporting to my CR as they have?
Also i have found that creditors have done address searches on an old property, one that i havent lived at in around 6 years, they are doing these frequently and i can only see the electoral role as being the reason for this, does this impact? can something be done about the amount of searches they are making?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!

duplicate linked addresses do not matter

Yes, but they should have warned you.
