Hi
has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the outcome or has anyone got any advice
we are in the process of applying for a mortgage and have been told we might have a problem, because ...
my partner has 2 permanent part time jobs both are with different members of the same family,
the 2 jobs come to over 40 hours a week , he started both jobs 4 and a half years ago
why would this effect his ability to get a mortgage
any feedback would be appreciated
Thank You

Does he get wage slips from both his employers ?
How does the tax work ?
Is he paying into a pension ?
Are his employers large companies or one man bands ?
You might need to speak to a "whole of market mortgage broker" in order to find a lender happy to take into account both jobs.
Many people have 2 jobs ( SUPERMAN!!) Only joking0 -
I had a hard time with Nationwide with my second job but I think this may have been the way the wage slip is worded for me. I work full time at a school but also do Sunday's at my local Waitrose who pay double time on a Sunday so it shows on my pay slip as contractual hours and then the extra payment as premium hours which they wouldn't take into account as it seemed like overtime to them. I also believe only half of the income of a second job counts towards the amount you can borrow but someone with more knowledge on the subject maybe able to help more. What I would say is the amount I the calculator on the site said I could borrow when I used my actual incomes and they amount they used came out quite different!0

Does your partner work fixed hours every week in both jobs. Or are the hours worked flexible.0 -
The lender may ask for details of the hours worked in the jobs, and the locations of the jobs - this would to be to make sure the situation is sustainable.
For example, if a person is working 80 hours a week, in jobs that are located 100 miles apart, that situation could clearlynot carry on as the person would burn themselves out, they'd have to give up one job and then not be able to afford the mortgage.
Your partners situation seems stable and the hours are reasonable.
Assuming both jobs are permanent, and the lender can get proof of income (payslips and p60), I think there'd be lenders that would look at thisEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hi
2 jobs , 2 wage slips, 2 P60's, tax is taken from one and his tax free allowance is given on the lower wage,if he goes over his allowance he pays tax, that's the way the tax office works it,
he has a private pension
its a private care home
job 1 he is groundsman, for the care home
job 2 he is personal carer for the care homes 22 year old severely autistic son,
one mortgage broker says it wouldn't be a problem another says it could be , that's why I am confused and wondered if anyone else had come across this,
it never occurred to us that it would be a problem, both jobs are as secure as any job can be these days
fixed hours for both jobs ,
Thank You

Are the wages for both jobs paid into his bank account? Could the company accountants provide confirmation of employment if necessary?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. yes to the first question and i can not see a problem with accountants confirmation,
wouldn't his last 4 years P60's be confirmation enough ?
