How late in the day is it reasonable to expect staff to travel by public transport?

    however I am sure most of us would not feel happy being dropped at the nearest station, when its an unknown one, no one else there and you could have 30 mins until the next train.

    Though this can be significantly reduced by getting the train timetable and waiting somewhere else (eg pub, even if not the best sort!) so you have a short wait at the station - it may even be worth paying the taxi waiting fee so you aren't left totally alone.

    The employer should, of course, give due consideration to the safety of all employees and there may be an argument that on some occasions, in some locations, it is unreasonable to expect staff to take public transport even when it is still running. It's quite reasonable for the OP to raise the issue, but gender should not be mentioned at all. I believe men are more likely to be attacked anyway (source).
