Savings or Cash ISAs after discharge

Hi
We were discharged bankrupt in Dec 2008 and have kept a clean slate since then. We opened an account with Co-operative and have kept 100% clean banking record since. 3 years ago the Co-op allowed us to open a cash isa which I did not start paying into but left open. I wanted to start saving this month and have now been told my ISA is now closed because it has been dormant and now will not reinstate because of my bankruptcy. They informed me this is a change in their eligibility. The HMRC cannot see why we cannot access an ISA and nothing has changed. Has anyone else had problems? or is there any other banks / building societies that will allow me to open a savings account.
Thanks!

Have you tried reapplying but telling them that on decline you wish to appeal, others on here have said that works, if not then any other provider will allow an ISA, yorkshire building society being one.
Seems to be a growing trend that co op are really clamping down on anyone who has a bankruptcy record, even exsisting customers, real shame.

Don't know about ISA but I've just opened a savings account with Co-op 3 months after ED with no problems at all."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
