Cyclists - route to Bangor?

Any cyclists go from Belfast to Bangor? I fancied a jaunt up that way, but I hear cycling on a motorway is illegal. Anyone know how I'd get there without going on that main road? If I can get to Holywood via Knocknagoney I think there's a cycle path that goes to Helen's Bay, but can't see how I'd avoid the main road at some point on the journey.
Any ideas?

There is no motorway to Bangor. Use the main A2.0

Road bike. Is the road to Bangor not a motorway?0

No. It is a dual carriageway.0

It's not motorway, and a good portion of the route with the exception of a stretch from Holywood to Helen's Bay is cycle pathed.0
