I daftly put the chicken in the oven after I had switched it all off to keep it out of the way while we ate. Forgot all about it and have just found it. We ate at 7pm so it's been sat in the oven since then-do you think it's safe to eat if I use it for stir fry and make sure it's hot or won't I kill the germs?

You've thrown a good cooked chicken away? After it's been sitting about at room temperature for only a couple of hours?

Blimey, you've obviously got money to burn.
  • Oh no. Chicken in our house is never thrown. It is chucked!

I have eaten chicken cold the following day after it has been sitting in the oven all night with no ill effects.

As has been said, you must have money to throw away

I've just put some cooked chicken in the fridge that was accidentally left out all night on the worktop. It'll be fine! Would never throw it away unless it was moving around by itself!

Nothing just gets chucked in this house! :o

I assumed the OP meant some raw chicken that had therefore slightly cooked in the heat of the cooling oven. In which case I'd have thought it ok to cook through a few hours later, but maybe not if it had been left overnight.

Just to clarify as i have only just seen this, it was a cooked chicken that had been left at room temp for 4.5 hours. From my looking at the food standards websites it should have been cooled as quickly as possible and refrigerated within an hour. I'm not going to make my children ill for a whoopsied chicken which we'd eaten half of already. Don't think that makes me crazy some peeps aren't very nice on here!
