Hi everyone!
I`ve been a lurker for a while and decided it was time to step out of the shadows and become a member.
You all seem so Nice around here, so I was hoping Ì could stick around even though I`m not English:undecided So please excuse the bad grammar and the occational drunk posting...
I need a Place where I can gather my thoughts and get some inspiration to get mortage free.
As of today my mortage stands at about 135000GBP:eek:
Really does make my stomach knot just thinking about it *groan*
I`m 34 and live alone With my dog (who refuses to pay any rent) so I guess it`s all up to me:doh:
I`ve made a Pledge to myself this year to have a "buy nothing year". I will only buy what is completely necessary and not get bogged down in the latest DSLR`s, mobile Phones, watches etc. In other Words try to live a frugal life as possible.
Since July of 2012 this mindset has helped me get my mortage from 144000-135000GBP, so even though it drains the very essence of my soul, it sure does help get the mortage paid...
So, hopefully this thread and site will keep me on track and not stray of like I have a tendency to do:wall:
Thanks for reading and feel free to chime in:beer:

Sooo.... 2 years just fly by so fast doesen't it:whistle:
To my defence i did say i had a tendency to stray off:D
I see now that the 135000£ isn't correct by todays currency, it's closer to 104000£. I guess the NOK has taken quite a beating to the £. Luckily i've managed to stay on the righteous path and have been continuing my downpayments. As of today my mortage is down to approximately 60000£ and if all goes right it will be about
50000£ at the end of the year.
I've become very frugal over the last years and my wants for material things have gone from wanting just about every shiny thing i laid my eyes on to being very content with what i have. My life has turned towards being more minimalistic, and i've found that less stuff and clutter really helps for a peaceful mind.
I have been plotting on different mortage calculators and if i can keep my job and my current wage i should be mortage free by 40:j
It's gonna be tough, but im really motivated!
Have any of you lost or gotten a decreased appetite for concumerism during your way towards getting mortage free?
I feel it a bit weird since just a few years ago i would spend every last penny i had on stuff and now im quite content just browsing:huh:0 -
When will that dog get over himself?
Welcome and good luck.0 -
Well done for losing the need for materialism and reducing mortgage !
Better you have the £ rather than the banks
So I assume your mortgage is held in Norway ? How does that work !?Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.0 -
That was a delayed update :rotfl: best of luckMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

The reason for it being in NOK is simply because im Norwegian:)
I tried to the best of my abilities to convert it to £ using a currency calculator from my bank. I think i might just have googled it the first time, wich might explain the huge gap:eek:
There's not many forums in Norway concering mortages and the likes, so I hope I could sort of mingle with you guys:o0
