I have just received a statement saying that as at 6 April 2012 I have 25 years qualifying years and I reach pension credit age on
6 March 2014 when I will be 62.If i stop looking for work and apply for pension credit will I be given contributions or do I need to be looking for work to get NI cons?

Pension credit, despite the name, does not give you credits towards your state pension. You can either work, pay voluntary contributions or register as self employed and pay contributions that way0

When will you reach state pension age?0

I am male sorry for the confusion0

From the Citizens Advice adviceguide websiteIf you are a man, you will get NI credits if:
- you're aged under 65, and
- you've reached or are over the state pension age of a woman with the same date of birth as you, and
- you're not paying contributions on earnings because, for example, you have taken early retirement.
Also mentioned on the HMRC website here although more vaguely.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
Thank you Snowman, I have found out at the moment I would get auto credits for 3 years as you say. These auto credits are being phased out in 20190
