Yes, you CAN file for BR at the High Court in London. There is an additional fee of £7.00.
I do not know, though, if you can 'just turn up' - best to phone first.
I'm not sure, however, if you can file at the High Court, irrespective of where you live - I was declared BR at the High Court, but this was because HMRC petitioned for my bankruptcy and they, apparently, only use the High Court.
Personally, I would have preferred my local court.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

By High Court, do you mean the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand? If so, then yes you can turn up on the day, & they don't charge the £150 part of the fee for those filing for their own bankruptcy. :) Try to get to the payment office by the latest 9.40am though, as the office opens at 10am & the queue grows quite quickly. :)

    Wow!!!!!!

Now that is interesting to know (something for the supporter's club)!!!!

    Verrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

That makes things much more affordable for just the price of a trip to London...

We live in London and wanted to go there. I called and asked, the person on the phone wanted to know the post code and then I was told we need to go to Croydon County Court. I guess it depends where in London you live.
