You could consider vehicle finance if you arent approved for the amount of money you need.
You can also do a soft search with Nationwide (granted you dont want to go there, but it wont leave an impression and will give an indication of how high street lenders view your credit status)
hey,
Sorry no i am dead against vehicle finance, i want a loan for credit history reasons and the fact that i actually own the car, thankyou for the suggest though,
Do you not need to have a bank account with nationwide for a loan application? if not thats a really good idea! So that will leave no footprint atall?

You can apply for a loan with whoever you like, there is no need to have an account with them - someone you bank with is normally a good first port of call as they will have more information on which to base their decision.
If you do a soft search with Nationwide and nothing will show on your credit history at all.0 -
No you dont need an account with Nationwide to apply for a loan. The soft search leaves no imprint for other lenders to view (only you and Nationwide can view the search). However if you then formally apply for the loan they will do a full search that will leave an imprint.0

Okay so would i go instore and ask for a "quote" or just tell them i want a softsearch? would you do this before natwest? Only reason im so against natwest is because when i met with my bank manager the system shows highly like to decline and she cant understand why - me neither!!
Only suggestion i have is the lloyds default is affecting the internal score.0 -
You don't find it irresponsible that im borrowing money for a car either do you? Im borrowing in a very controlled way.0

Go to their website.
With a default on the searches, you wont be approved.0 -

Well I wouldn't do the soft search or any other search until the default has been removed.0

I wouldn't say irresponsible, but just really think it through before you commit.
You don't say how old you are, I'm assuming quite young? I have bought stuff and borrowed money to do so - in hindsight wish I had not. But it's your life and your decision.0
