Child care vouchers while on Maternity Leave?

Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right place for this? I am at the moment in discussions with my employer as to whether I can continue to claim childcare vouchers while off on Statutory Maternity Pay. They have said I need to withdraw from the scheme but I have found some information on the HMRC website which contradicts this.

The HMRC document seems to say that they are classed as a non cash benefit and under 2008 legislation you're still entitled to these while off on SMP, however they can't be deducted from SMP and so basically the employer would end up paying out for them.

This is the reason why they're being very evasive about it. I spoke to my HR managers (who's off on maternity herself) last night and she said that the mamanegment know they should pay them but are just ignoring it. She said she didn't want to rock the boat by pushing for them.

These vouchers would make a huge difference to my fmaily for the time i'm off and if i'm due them then I feel I should be able to get them, but it's not exactly the kind of placewhere they're going to appreciate me causing 'trouble' by pushing for them.

Have anyone got any experince of this or advice? Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Unfortunately they do have to pay them whilst you are on maternity leave. This is exactly the reason so little employers offer the scheme and why so many withdraw from it as soon as they can because it costs them money.
