Spread sheets can be very useful when it comes to budgeting particularly if you are paid weekly but have monthly bills. I use a spread sheet in conjunction with piggy banking.
Sheet one relates to my bills account, the money in this account as the name suggests covers bills. I make a payment calculated using the spread sheet to thisaccount every week;
This account is never used for spending
Sheet two relates to my current account.
It has a number of columns:- Incoming = pay Outgoing = moneyto bills account which leaves a balance Tesco shop= budgeted at £43.50 a week but normally come in under. The Tesco shop and slimming world columns deduct from the balance togive the non-allocated column. The spent column fills from sheet 3. This column is the deducted from thenon-allocated column to tell me what I have left to spend.
Sheet three is my spending record. Every time I spend I put it in sheet three which then automatically populates the relevant column in sheet 2.
This works for me as I have a current total of what I really have left to spend- banks can look artificially healthy before bills come out.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -

Interesting spread sheet, could be useful to work out spending. I'm not sure though how it keeps you on top of your spending? Which I presume is why the OP asked about spread sheets in the first place. How without an income column do you know if you are staying within your means?Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property.
