Purple Milk

Does anybody know the difference in the purple milk at Tescos.

Usually I buy the green label semi-skimmed but my friend told me to look out for the purple/lilac labelled milk which is also semi-skimmed but much cheaper. So I bought it and it's fine but I don't understand the difference

Semi skimmed has a milk fat content of 1.7%, purple milk is 1%.

I've never been able to taste the difference either.

The purple milk that telcos sells is just a cheaper brand of milk than their own

the lilac label milk is from Creamfields. The whole milk and semi skimmed are very similar to look at. In my tesco they put both in 1 of the milk cages at the end of the milk section.

I know the one you mean now! It won't really be any different then, and you can ignore my original post. I thought you meant the 1% which come with a purple top, like semi skimmed is green, whole is blue etc...

So is it exactly the same but cheaper and from another supplier?

I just feel like I'm missing something. Why aren't there alternatives
to the blue lids(full fat) and the red(skimmed milk). What's special about the green that we need another colour alternative?

the Creamfields milk is £1 for 4 pts (both full fat milk and semi skimmed), Te*co own brand is £1,30ish i think.

There are two varieties of £1 purple milk in my tesco - a darker purple lid, which is 4%, so I suppose like full fat, and a lilac coloured lid which is 2%, so like semi-skimmed.

I buy the 2% one all the time.

I've tried the creamfields milk and found it didn't seem to last as long and went off quicker for some reason I buy Icelands semi-skimmed at a pound for four pints and its fine and lasts at leat 6-8 days

Not a problem for us as we get through a 4 pint milk in about 3-4 days. If we didn't get through it as quickly I think I'd probably decant it into one pint containers and freeze. My sister does that as she doesn't use very much milk.
