Almost Their !

Hi All
I have been away from the forum for about 12 months, at my worst I was aprox £15k in debt and as of today I have £1250 to go, it has taken aprox 3.5 / 4 years. This will be paid off within 5weeks and I am feeling great and starting to luck forward to the rest of my life debt free (excluding mortgage). Am already planning on how to enjoy my financial freedom with my lovely family.
Anyway, just wanted to give those at the start of their journey a bit of hope, if I can do it anyone can. I always found it motivational reading about people reaching their debt free target and hopefully people will read this and feel the same.
Good Luck Everyone x

Quick update on progress, my CC currently stands at £875, wont be able to pay any off for the next 2 weeks as my wages will go on mortgage, bills and living expenses, but then I can hammer the balance in week 1 and week 2 of June and have paid off by Mid June all being well. Nearly there I can smell the freedom !!!!

    Well done. Congratulations.

Can I suggest that you now take what you were paying off, and start putting at least some of it into a savngs account each month? This will help to ensure that you are not tempted to borrow "just a little bit, this once" and start over again.

Ha ha yeas, I never realised !
    Independence is definitely the word.
I will definitely starting a savings pot as I am currently approaching my mid thirties and do not have any pension, so that is a priority. But I will also be putting some of my spare cash to enjoying life......starting with booking theartre tickets as a surprise for my long suffering wife !
Thanks for all your support and help, and good luck to anyone on their DF Journey, believe me, if I can do it, anyone can !

Quick update, am still debt free and have managed to accumulate 1000 of savings, this debt free journey has definitely educated me, whereas before I would buy and not think about the cost of things, I am now completely different asking myself if I really need it, and if I can get it cheaper elsewhere. I hope I am not turning into to much of a scrooge come to think of it ! Good Luck Everyone !
  • Well done
