Bankruptcy and PPI claim

Not sure if to post here or on ppi thread-but ch0se here:

Apologies where no doubt this has been covered previously but just can't 'search' the amswers.

Have genuine ppi claim on a conservatory loan-10 yr loan -taken out 16 years ago.in joint names-self and wife.

I was declared self bankrupt 5 years ago .

Have not made a ppi claim yet.

Question:if we were to claim now-and claim accepted-am i correct that my wife would get 50% and my half would go to the trustee of my bankruptcy (will they ever know ?)

assuming above is correct-if we made the claim in 12 months time- and therefore once i have been free of bankruptcy for 6 years,at that stage-do we get between us 100% of any successful claim-or does my share of this still go to the trustee at any stage ?

appreciate any valued assistance /guidance.
thanks

Sticky at the top of the board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3766585

But basically yes, your half will go to the Insolvency Service. They will check other things other than your credit files, like the London Gazette. If you take the money and run, so to speak, you will be commiting an offence as the IS is actually claiming PPI themselves so if they do yours then you're up the creek.

thanks for referring me to the sticky-which is helpful.

    Does leave a question though:

I wonder whether the IS would make a claim if it is in joint names-and if they were successful -would they automaticaly hand 50% of the claim over to my wife ? i wonder ?

Alternatively-i see nothing wrong in my wife making a claim on OUR behalf-and we simply ensure that 50% of a succesful claim is paid to my trustee .

    am i mis-guided/deluded ?

Yes if they made a claim then your wife would get her half but there isn't anything stopping her making the claim and the company will give your bit to the IS.

Don't use a firm as it is easy to do yourself with a few letters. Search this site as there is a information on how to do it. All for free and not giving your money to !!!!!!!!!!s.
