O2 Phone contract

I hope someone can advise as im not sure what to do. I have about 4 months until I am discharged. I am working part time with no IPA. Money is very tight and every month I struggle to pay my O2 phone bill. I am now about 2 months behind with it and have been cut off. I dont really need this phone and would be better off if I was pay as you go.
Is it possible for me to add this to my BR and have the debt written off and contract cancelled.
Has anyone been able to change their contract to a cheaper one
One worry I have is the contract is more then £500 a year and I didnt notify them of my bankruptcy, I know I should have but at the time I just didnt think to do it.
I am close to the end of my BR now and dont want to open a can of worms or get myself into trouble. O2 are actually a great service and I do feel bad for dragging them into my BR.

Did you sign the contract prior to going BR? If so, then you can include it in your BR, if not then they can and will pursue you for the total amount you would have paid throughout the whole contract plus charges probably, and cut you off so you don't actually get what you are paying for.
Sim only deals are the best value, I pay £10.50 a month and get unlimited texts, 300 minutes and 500mg data. I couldn't get one in my name so my dd put it in hers and I pay the bill."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -
Thanks PippaGirl, yes the contract was signed before I went BR. Im 2 months behind and cut off so not actually getting any service. I think by the time I get the money together to pay the 2 months I will still be cut off as the third bill will be due. Am I likely to get into trouble for not letting them know I was BR as the contract is over £500 ?
Also how would I go about adding this to my BR, does anyone know ?0 -
Your BR automatically includes things up to BR date even if not listed on your intiial forms. Just write to 02 and say you were made BR on such and such a date and therefore this contract signed before it on such and such a date is included and you are not liable for the remaining balance as it is included in your BR. You can enclose a copy of your BR to help them. That should then be it, hopefully.
See if you can put a payg or sim only sim in the phone instead so you can continue to use the phone.
You've not done anything wrong about not letting people know, at the time you signed the contract with 02 you were not BR so had nothing to declare so don't worry."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
