CCJ - how long takes to come off your credit file...

I'm not sure if I've posted it in the correct section or not, but i'll keep it here anyways...
Just wondering how long it takes before a CCJ comes off your credit file? I know its 6 years, but does the 6 years start when it first goes on your file, or does it start when the judgement is satisfied?
If anybody knows the answer that would be great, as I cannot find it anywhere online, been doing a few searches but nothing that mentions that.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

It's 6 years from the date of the judgement. I have a CCJ dated 01/08/2001, which was paid in full and then marked satsfied on 01/09/2002. It will disappear from my record in August of this year (yaaaay!)0

It's 6 years from the date of judgement. It will still drop off even if it hasn't been satisfied.0

Yes, that's what I put originally. Then I found this
http://www.debtquestions.co.uk/debt_forum/viewtopic.php?p=151875&sid=4095872627dc7338ec50dad07fbe76eb
and then wasn't sure if it was six years . The link is a thread about someone with a CCJ moving abroad and ti all seemed to get a bit involved, so I was wondering if some was relevant if someone was in the UK with an 'old' CCJ.

Hi keren29,
Interesting link. I'm still ploughing through it but just to clarify. The CCJ will still drop off the CRA's 6 years from the date it was issued regardless of whether or not it has been satisfied.
I assume the bit your wondering about is whether or not it will be re registered. Yes it is possible but extremley unlikley. There is an old thread lurking around on here about this. I'll see if I can find it. file_wizzard is a good one to ask about CCJ's etc but I haven't seen him/her on the board for a while.0
