in Cutting tax
I wonder if anyone out there can offer any advice? My OH has spent the last 3 1/2 years working for a company that has messed him about in an appalling way. For example:
During his first year they told him there was a problem with sorting out the PAYE so asked that he went self employed on paper and they would pay the tax bill, they only payed this recently when he had a letter threatening court action, and we are still waiting to hear from the Tax Office as to whether this has been paid in full.
He has not had a pay slip or a P60 for the last 2 years.
They have regularly not paid him a full months wages, and when they have it has been almost a month late.
He has finally seen the light and got a good job with a decent company but when he finally managed to extract his P45 from his old firm it did not state his 2007/2008 tax code.
What disturbs us most is the P60, which seems to be nearly £5500 short of what we calculate he was probably paid. I really have no idea of the implications of this, I need to give a figure to the Child Tax Credit Office, is it ok to use this?
Please Help !!!!!

Best thing to do is to report the company to HM Revenue & Customs. It sounds to me like the company is being dishonest at best and possibly downright fraudulent.
HMRC will undertake their own investigations but will not disclose to the company why they are doing this or if they had a tip off.0
