    Taken from post no 5
My aim would be to keep it well out of any of my accounts. Take it out gradually and store it somewhere safe. Then id declare bankruptcy and show a thread of gambling therapy sessions - silly maybe.

Official Receivers are not stupid. They look through all of your financial details, income/ outgoings, assets and the probability you may have hidden money.

Personally I wouldn't mess with them as they have the full force of the UK law to throw at you, and if found out they may 'throw away the key'.

I have to say, this is the first time I've been on this forum and considering how difficult my life is at the moment, its not really the best having advice come with people taking the p*ss out of you.

Its obvious I don't fully understand whats available to me. Iv tried getting as much advice as possible and Im just stuck with a headache and stress.

Im not some rich idiot trying to look for an easy way out, I am unemployed and trying to clear my debts without having to starve for a year.

If anyone can offer some genuine advice on this I'd appreciate it but if not then please don't just dish out your condescending remarks because 1) it says more about you than you realize 2) it really gives this site a bad name.

People aren't taking the p**s. You're looking to go bankrupt and you're looking to hide a little money on the side so that it isn't so difficult to get through. What you're talking about doing is illegal and to many people it's morally questionable. I think you need to be realistic and realise that just because this particular type of crime is no big deal to you doesn't mean everyone else is going to be OK with it, they will have an opinion on that side of your query.

The rules of bankruptcy are what they are, many people go bankrupt and have to live a lifestyle they don't like and that they find very hard but they do it. If you want to hide money no one can stop you but if they catch you at it you could be in a world of trouble. Bankruptcy is the government saying you're in an unworkable situation so we'll help you out of the hole but you need to learn to live with what you need and not what you want. You won't starve on it so please don't be dramatic.

The suggestions you're getting are good, you got yourself here from spending, we all do it and sometimes it catches up with us. No-one is accusing you of being rich and taking the mick, the majority of people on here are just like you. Normal, everyday people who got a bit out of control with spending or who had an emergency that couldn't be managed and it's causing them a whole lot of grief. The way out is to take the bankrupt, rules and all and do your best on the dole, there are thousands of people who manage and yes it is tough. Or get a job and pay back your debts which is also going to be hard for you. If you are looking to hide money then you are still trying to live above your means - you are a bankrupt candidate - your means are not as not as high as you want them to be. The advice here is not easy and it's not going to be what you want because magic isn't real and easy street doesn't exist. You get out of this through sacrifice and hard work, the people here can only give you tips for that and they are trying to do just that. Yes, you are poor average Joe with not a lot to spend, we all are! Welcome to the table, pull up a chair and make a list of things you can do without because like it or not, that is the answer, we can only help you with the list.

    Hi SillyG,

Listen to what the National Debtline Rep. is telling you and read the info on the posted links...

I've been through bankruptcy and if I have one piece of information to pass on it's - make sure you have explored all options first!

From what you have posted so far, you could get into a lot of trouble by trying to deceive the OR in simple terms DON'T DO IT!

Why not try speaking to your creditor to discuss repayment terms (explain your situation) and take on a second job?

Times will be tough and you won't have a great life but don't screw yourself over for an amount like this :-)

If you do go down the BR route then the OR will look at your income and outgoings, you may not have to repay anything and if you are discharged after less than a year (as I was) then you do not need to declare any change in circumstances.
