Understanding credit report

Hi all
I'm lucky enough to be debt free, having paid them all off last year. I'm now trying to understand my credit rating so that I can check that everything has been updated correctly. I'd appreciate some info on the following points:
Defaults
Once an account has been marked 'Default', should this appear in every month subsequent, or should there be one default marker? I know that the defaults drop off after six years, but on some of my accounts there is a D marker for every month up to the settlement of the account.
Settled/Satisfied
I paid off all my debts in full. However, some of them are listed as 'Settled' and some 'Satisfied' I think that one means paid in full, while another means that an agreement has been reached. Which is which, and should I appeal if they are wrong?
Multiple accounts
My biggest debt was part of a consolidation chain. I have seperate, defaulted, entries for the different elements. Should this be one record (with a single default) or separate?
For clarification, all the accounts that I've queried are from Natwest. My other entries all seem above board.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Defaults - its just the latest status that they are updating each month - as long as the default date stays the same then its fine (and will drop off at the correct time).
Settled is usually when an agreement has been paid in full in accordance with the agreement. Satisfied is often used when there has been a default but this has since been satisfied (usually being paid off in full).
When a reduced settlement has been agreed this can be recorded as partially satisfied.
Multiple Accounts - did you have seperate credit agreements for the different elements? if so and if you defaulted on them all then it would be correct to show them seperate.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks Tixy, that's really helpful, not to mention reassuring!
The earliest default should drop off in October, will keep an eye on things then!0
