Savings Account - Rejection...

Found a 12 month regular savings account that pays 4% AER and allows regular monthly payments of up to £500 pcm which suits me fine.

I had trouble even getting a basic bank account, despite never having any DRO/IVA/CCJ/Bankruptcy etc. Couple of defaults though and I imagine there will have been 7-8 searches in the last month alone, due to trying to get a bank account sorted.

If I pop along to the building society with lots of official ID, is there any reason why I could be rejected for a regular savings account on the basis of a credit score and/or not being on the electoral roll?

Also, would they do any sort of search which would show up on my credit reference file(s)?
