Chicken safety question

Just a quick question.
I froze a chicken when I bought it in December, and got it out last night to defrost for our lunch today.
My question is it states on the package only to freeze for one month. Does that mean there is a safety issue and I shouldn't cook it.
I am pregnant and don't want to take silly risks.
Thanks

Hi Counting_Pennies.
I dont know the answer to be honest, but, if it were me, I would err on the side of caution and not eat it, as, like you say, I wouldn't want to take risks.

I second Pipkin, I wouldn't risk it but someone will probably be along soon who knows more than me!0

As it's been frozen, no microbial life will have been able to thrive, so there's no safety risk, IMO.
The downside of freezing meat for a long time is that the fat can degrade. It's not harmful, but may not taste as good as fresh.
I'd eat it, and would have done when I was pregnant, but it's up to you to become informed and assess your own attitude to balancing risk and thrift.

If you do a google on it it seems 6 months to 1 year is standard. As long as you trust your freezer I'd get it in the oven!
Congratulations on your pregnancy.0 -
we always and also did when i was pregnant eat stuff that has been in the freezer for a year!
we have a large stand alone freezer and also and american style fridge freezer so lots of freezer space........the only way we eat as well as we do is by buying loads of super reduced meat and freezing it.0 -
it's fine to eat; the 1 month is about quality of the meat texture, not safety. It could end up being a little drier or chewier than fresh.0

It all depends on the stars your freezer has.
I have just googled this, so HTH
Star Ratings
Given in 1 star* to 4 stars **** for the freezer section. The more stars the better! Most fridge freezers will be three or four stars. This means that the majority of foods can be frozen and safely stored for up to twelve months. Lower star ratings are usually applicable to ice boxes rather than freezers meaning than food can only be safely frozen for ** = one month and * = one week.
Ultimately it comes down to your preference.
I would eat it, the only time I don't is when food becomes fridge frozen.:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.
If you are there always for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.

It'll be fine.0

Have to agree that I think the '1 month' really refers to the taste quality rather than the safety. I rarely take note of these dates as once frozen no bacteria can multiply.0
