Nosy agencies

Its good to know that others get this (it seems very common!). I will in future just do as an9i77 advises and say it's confidential.

It was one agency in particular (a big one with offices around the country) that was particularly nosy. It was the same one that also couldn't/wouldn't confirm whether they would put my CV forward for a particular role I had applied for via an online job board as they weren't sure if it was right, yet they still pestered me for my references which I refused to hand over until I knew if I was being out forward.

I can tell you something else too. If someone registers with an agency, then the agency may well ring your bosses and research if they need someone. They thrive on people moving jobs and candidate info. I can tell when someone in the office is looking because the agencies start ringing up. Lol if your looking for a job and are registered with an agency, but you get a job yourself, they are gutted if you don't tell them, because they are poised to fill your old job.
