Who to contact?

Hello

Me and my partner have moved house and we changed his address at the bank. We have not got any letters regarding his debt as they were lost or misplaced during the move.

He wants to start paying it back but with no letters im not sure who to contact or what we should do?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Get him to sign up to https://www.noddle.co.uk its a free credit report.

Also get £2 reports from Experian & Equifax.

    http://equifax.co.uk/products/credit/statutory-report.html

With all these being the big 3 credit agencies he can get an idea of who he owes too.

Is this just one debt to his bank? has he tried speaking to them? they should be able to advise if they are still dealing with the debt or if its been passed to a debt collection agency.

Or he could get a copy of his credit file, remembering to complete the sections about his past addresses and he may find that the debt appears on there, either in the name of the bank or a debt collectors name.

  • Hello

The main debt is to his bank and i think the other is for water.

    Thanks for your help.

The water debt might not appear on his credit file. Check there first but if it does not then he could try contacting the water company direct to ask them about the debt. As long as he knows the address in relation to the debt then he should be able to work out which water company would have supplied his water.
