Registrar a few weeks before your wedding....

What happens at this meeting please?
I've left a few messages at the registrars but no one has replied back to me from their offices.
We get married in 5 weeks, I have the notices from our own district which I presume we can take with us. I 'think' we pick our vows and tell them the songs we want but is it anything else?
Only reason I ask is it's at 4pm (latest appointment) and I am sooooo pushed for time right now, I wondered if H2B can just go along and answer/ask questions?

Hi Jax
This is what we are taking on Friday for us - the registrar called us to make the appointment and we are getting married on 18th May. Only one of us needs to go so long as the person going is sure of all details.
Completed paperwork, showing the vows and any readings we have chosen, number of certificates required
List of music and whether CD or live
If live name of singer and/or musicians
Names of photographers and/or videographers
Names of witnesses
Names of those doing the readings
Means of payment

We have our meeting 16th May and was told over the phone that we needed to have the names of bridesmaid and best man (witnesses I guess), list of music and payment. She said they would go over the vows etc when we are there and would prefer it if both of us could attend.
I was a little confused by the fact that when we received the invoice there was no indicator of the things you need to think about and it stated that you could arrange the meeting to discuss the arrangements if you wanted to.0 -
Do you know what to do if you don't have the names of your witnesses? We we're just going to ask whoever sat at front......Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

We did this this morning. For some reason Newcastle doesn't like to make appointments for this, we had to phone and see if we could be fitted in on any given day. Yesterday we phoned late afternoon and were told first thing this morning should be fine but we may have a bit of a wait. Appointments is a far better system.
Any way, we were both expected to attend, went through the order of ceremony, registrar double checked what we wanted page by page, allowed us to change the ring vow (they had two options neither of them being quite what we wanted) checked the names of our witnesses (not crucial they had them today but they certainly wanted them in advance - your registrar may be more flexible Jax, worth asking). Talked us through how the ceremony would work, checked our CD (ceremony music) played on their system. We then paid the balance of what was required (including their just added booking fee - we booked 15 months ago and paid a deposit 11 months ago, but they've since introduced a booking fee).
Took just under half an hour in total.

Thanks Nuatha.
Finally got my call and its ok just for OH to attend. So that makes thinks easier at least.
Will have to make sure he remembers what's said and what he's signed us up for!Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
