Well today was d day and I am now bankrupt, was in the court about 25 mins and didn't even have to see the judge, now what happens?? I know the OR rings me - but what do I need to do to prepare, do I have to meet them or is it done all over the phone, how do I get my bank statements, tenancy agreement to them - do they see it?? Does the OR contact my landlord and work and tell them?? So many questions, does anyone like to share their experiences with me please? Thanks x

i had a phone 24hrs later asking a couple of questions about bank account. then they rang back 48hrs later with an app for the interview,i think most are telephone ones but i asked for a face to face one, easier to explain myself etc. then they sent a letter with details of what i need to get, things like bank statements cc bills etc. i went to interview two weeks later. it was 1hr 30 long and just asked about few of my debts and things. i had contact with examiner twice over phone in the year and that was it finished. hope thats some help,i cant remember much else lolJames tucker

Hi I also had a face to face interview as I had a complicated situation with properties.
I needed 2 years bank statements 1 yr credit card statements tenancy agreement, they did not contact my landlord as I had no debt there, they didn't contact work but I did anyway as they have been very supportive.
My son came with me for support and the examiner was very thoughtful and respectful to us mine lasted almost 3 hrs but as I said it was very complicated,
I have never looked back it was the only way I could go, A.D in August then I will relax.
You will be fine keep in touch xx0 -

I wouldn't worry too much. I believe they don't always want to see bank statements and the most recent ones should generally suffice. If they need to goback further I believe they can contact the bank directly to request them.
I would try and relax (easier said than done I know).
Gather together what papers you dohave and can easily get hold of and put them in a file. Keep this by the phone/easy to hand for when you have your OR interview. The main point of the interview is to go through your reason(s) for going bankrupt and to go over your figures and possibly to discuss car(s) or your house. If you haven't got the info to hand then just say so. They can always write and request it if they really need something.
In terms of telling work then no, this is not something they would do. They may issue you with a different tax code and you should put any money aside that would have been due in tax and pay this over to the bankruptcy people separately(I believe a company called Moon Beaver deal with this aspect in bankruptcy). Your company may or may not guess from the change intax code but frankly many things can cause a change in tax code and the employer will have to operate the tax code HMRC gives them (they certainly can't ask HMRC why you are on this tax code) whether they like it or not. You certainly don't have to discuss with anyone from work your bankruptcy as it has nothing to do with them.
Generally I don't think most people have face to face interviews, if only for the time it takes both parties to get to these. It's usually quicker and easier to do it by phone, although obviously if the OR feels that it is necessary then they may. I think it's only with compex bankruptcys and possibly business sole-trader bankruptcys they have face to face meetings with.
Best of Luck

Thanks for the replies I am feeling so much better my OR rang me yesterday afternoon and went through some initial info with me as he hadn't received all the paperwork when he rang, my proper interview is next Wednesday and I cant wait to be honest I will be jumping for joy I am sure. I asked him if he needed to contact my landlord and he said no so that was a huge relief and also he said he has no interest in my bank account which is another relief and Barclays haven't frozen it yet lol!!! I am in the process of getting my wages and benefits paid into another account anyway and will just transfer what I need over to that account for now just incase. My OR seemed really nice thank god and very polite and actually answered some of the questions for me (I suppose he does do it that often) lol. Well anyway I will come back next week and let you know the outcome its only really my car I see him having issues with but to be honest it wont be worth anything to anyone as it needs so much work doing on it and he says it is essential for my job and he said it should be fine. The hp finishes on it in September do you think he will make me pay those payments towards my debts instead or let me keep the money??
Thanks for reading x0
