Car Insurance failed credit check

I am most baffled. Since being bankrupt nearly 6 years ago I have failed a credit check for the 1st time!
Sorting out car insurances with Hastings Direct earlier and when they done a credit check through Equifax I failed! They told me to phone Equifax as which I did and Equifax said my credit report is looking good, have an excellent score but of course my bankruptcy is still on there. They said Hastings Direct have their own credit criteria.
As I said first time I have been told I have been declined since my bankruptcy.
