Claiming a s75 for an electricians course

Hi. I am new to this so apologies for any poor forum etiquette!
I am currently trying to claim under S75 through my credit card company HSBC, for an electricians course that my husband wanted to do.
The deposit of £1000 was paid (of a total £5995) on my credit card on 2/12/2009 and the rest was paid via a finance arrangement through the company that did the course. The company went into administration at the beginning of the year and my husband has only completed 3 of the 4 courses that he has paid for.
I have contacted HSBC and they have said that I am not entitled to claim as the payment was over 540 days (initially they said over 280 days).
What are the rules as far as time limits for intangible products that are provided over a certain time period? I have only recently found out about the company situation therefore I would not have been able to make a claim within the said time period.

There is no limit, this is interesting for you:

Make sure you are quoting Section 75, not just a visa chargeback which may be where the confusion is.0 -
note that the credit card provider is also liable for the entire amount, not just the deposit. In theory, they could instead meet the cost of completing the course through another provider - assuming that is possible.
Write to the credit card provider and say you are dissatisfied with the response given and unless they reconsider you will go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Keep a copy of your letter and get proof of posting (free from the post office).0
