Housing benefit overpayment due to moonbeever payments

Hi guys
We got a letter today saying we had been overpaid housing benefit.
Upon ringing them it turns out that because I was on a nil tax code so in effect my net income was higher - they say they have paid me too much housing benefit and we owe them about £250.
I'm saying that's not fair because the money went straight to moonbeever. Had we not been BR, then the net would have been the same and this wouldn't have happened.
They are basically saying "tough".
Can anyone advise?

There is a post - a long thread - about this and I cannot remember who posted about it a few years back. It may be worth spending some time searching.
Will have a long think and see if I can remember who it was. Perhaps Fermi or another long time member can remember??0 -
Found it.

Perfect thank you.
Looks like we'll either be lucky or we won't on this one!0 -
Hi,
Yes I remember that other thread very well!
It is certainly worth a try, probably on the basis that you had no control over that part of your income but it will be a tough battle.
