Training to be a baker

I currently work at sainsburys as a cleaner I would like to try and get into the bakery there -what courses do I need to take ?

    Have you asked at work? I would have thought that would be the best place to be able to advise you.

    I imagine that a Food Hygiene Certificate would be a good starting point.

  • Do you cook your own food and bake your own bread at home? That would be a start IMHO. You need a love for food to get anywhere if you plan to become an Artisan Baker.

    If you want to be a baker at Morrisons they train you through an apprentice scheme (assuming they pick you).

    Maybe worth asking if Sainsburys have something simlar? I would think baking is all about experiance more then training but what do I know :D

    They do have bakery apprenticeships. They aren't limited to a certain age group either.

    I was doing one but on the meat and fish counter until I had to leave for reasons beyond my control.

    There is a fair amount of training that goes into it and its worth it if you can get on one. There should be a HR manager at the branch, they are a good point of contact.
    Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.
