There's a job I want to apply for but it requires a qualification in Level 2 warehousing to NVQ standard. I know I have more years experience than I care to mention in warehousing and when I see what is required from the job description it's a little off putting when they require that qualification.
Would It matter if I didn't have that NVQ?

Best to contact the employer and ask. Only they can tell you if they accept experience over qualifications.0

You could also say you are willing to take the nvq course, using a government funded training provider at little or no cost to the employers0

I'd apply anyway and mention the years' of experience in the cover letter.0 -
I would also apply anyway, mention in the cover letter or CV all the experience you have but as already suggested, if needed you are willing to go the qualification. I would think someone with plenty of experience is better than someone with the qualification and no experience.0

On a side note you could offer that, with your years of experience, you could potentially become a trainer/assessor in the industry, depending on your qualifications. This may make you even more attractive to the employer.0

Some really good suggestions have been made here. For example, as saintjammyswine pointed out – each employer is likely to have a different opinion about what they’re looking for in relation to qualifications and experience, so it’s definitely worth giving it a go. Whether your application is considered could also depend on the competition from other applications that each employer receives in response to the job advert. In some cases, depending on the applications that they receive, they may consider experience in lieu of qualifications, while in other cases they may prefer somebody with a qualification.
If you’re worried about spending a lot of time on applications that may not be considered, a quick phone call to find out what their thoughts are before completing the application could clear things up.
Good luck with your applications!

It may be wise to find out whether there actually are any 'government funded training providers' willing to pay the cost of the NVQ first.
There is funding available, for people in work it is called ESF Worplace Learning and, depending on criteria being met can fund up to Level 3 courses.0
