CallCredit Taken £45 out of Account without Authority!!!

Hi there
Sorry if this is in the wrong place - I looked through and couldn't work out where to put it!
I've just looked at my credit card statement online and am horrified to see that Call Credit (credit report firm) have taken £44.99 off my card without any authority from me!
I joined them for a free trial last year and subsequently cancelled it after the trial term, but for some reason they have taken a whole years subscription out.
I wouldn't be so p1ssed off it were Experian or Equifax, but Callcredit are !!!!!!! They have hardly any info on you.
Does anyone know what I can do? I will be writing in to them, but any advice in the meantime would be most welcomed.
Thanks

Make sure that you cancel the direct debit with the bank whenever you cancel a free trial.
Also, do you have any proof that you cancelled this with the credit agency before? If you can provide an e-mail or copy letter then you should be fine. If you did it by phone or have no proof then you may find it a little more difficult.
Good luck. I hate it when this sort of thing happens :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I had this but from my bank account from weight loss recources.
I'm not a member but did a 6 month thing with them last year that ran out last october. (BTW, just being a member does not make you instantly loose weight
)
Then at the beginning of May they took £45 from my bank account.
So I called them. They tried to say I was a member & quoted summit at me.
Unfortunatly I am quite up on the 'law' regarding taking stuff from your account so they sent me a cheque.
I also tried to log into WLR before I called them but it wouldn't let me in so I knew for sure I wasn't a member.
Call them & they should refund you.
Unless you may have accidentally not stopped your membership.
Good luck

Thanks so far - there was no direct debit set up though - I had to provide credit card details to allow me to have the free trial - seemingly the cheeky b**t**d* kept these details and helped themselves to my money!
Am just trawling through a years worth of emails to see if I have any proof of cancellation etc - not very hopeful though - I don't tend to save many e mails for that length of time - my inbox would be stuffed!0 -
Something vaguely similar, my wife set up a monthly card payment from her bank account card for a web game for her son. This was cancelled several months ago but they've taken these payments off her card. End result, the bank said the only way to stop this was to cancel the card & have a new one sent to her, which we've done this week. From cancellation of card to arrival of new card took 4 days so it didn't end up too much of an inconvenience although the bank did say that she shouldn't have set up this payment in this way as it's too easily open to abuse/fraud etc.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000.
