Advice Needed

I have been asked this and I was unable to give advice So I thought who better to ask than the helpful people on Martins

I was renting a house before moving out of the UK and I thought all my bills were settled but I missed this one

Electricity bill was due Sept 2007 - I moved out of the UK for a year without realising the bill was outstanding.

My credit report now has a default dated Sept 2008 for £107.

I've contacted the supplier and asked for a copy of the bill.... I will pay the full balance as soon as I receive the bill.

When will this be removed from my credit file? 6 years from the date of the bill or 6 years from the date of the default?

The credit rating agency is Experian will it also be on any other Credit agencies ?

Will it be removed automatically? Or do I need to ask the energy provider to do so?

Last question..... Will this default (soon to be settled) make it impossible to get a loan at reasonable rates? If at all
Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Since first using Martins I have saved thousands

Depends if the utility co report to other agencies or just Experian, I would imagine although not certain that they would use more than 1.
  • The default will not be removed until September 2014 settled or not.

It will be removed automatically, but not until 6 years from the date that it's settled, as Conisme said.

It won't make it impossible to get a loan, but it's going to mean you'll be much less likely to get anything like a headline rate.

Obviously the rate you get will depend on other things, like your income, how good the rest of your history is, balances outstanding on credit cards etc etc
