Why won't my car sell? Help needed!

Alexwild- I'd prefer to drop a bit than go to WeBuyAnyCar. If they quote £2400 they will guaranteed try and haggle it down to below £2000, if not much further down. We don't need the cash pronto, but as you say it is costing us money having it say here.
Thanks for your feedback on here everybody, I've reduced the price to £2999 or very near offer and see if that helps.0 -

Autotrader Ad. Will sell quickly.. I hate that bit..
Biggest put off for me.. A telesafe number. 37.5p a minute??
No matter what the car was and how much of a bargain i would NEVER phone one of those.
Same here I never phone one of those telesafe numbers on any advert0 -

Ok- updated and removed. To be honest I've called them a few times and never thought anything of it but if you think it'll help shift it!0 -

Stick it on gumtree too and replace the advert every couple of days to keep it up the listings and not cost you any money.0 -
Dont forget when you see £3500 prices. They are dealers making a profit on the cars and offering the buyer some protection from buying a dud one.
When someone drives yours away they are on their own. If the engine falls out at the bottom of your road then you say tuff.
Most dealers cannot do that.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I agree with the rest of your advice, but:gilbert_and_sullivan wrote: »Might try another ebay classified, putting in a sub heading of NOT civic astra focus etc so it comes up on searches for other comparable cars.
That's keyword spamming and it kills baby kittens.
As a buyer it riles me that people want to cheat in this way. And you won't come across as very honest if the first interaction with potential buyers is as somebody who cheated their way into the search results...0 -

I tend to agree. If I see a listing like this, I'm suspicious of a dodgy seller straight away. That might be unjustified, but it's how I react, and I suspect a lot of other people too. It smacks a bit of a trader who is pulling all the tricks: not someone I would want to deal with.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
and it annoys the **** out of me! if you're searching for a specific car the last thing you want to see is cars that aren't - just makes the search results even harder to wade throughThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Likewise. I always think it is a trader hiding.
Best to go with things that are generic but sell the car like FSH or auto, reliable etc so when people search for those things it comes up.
Gumtree and eBay classifieds for me. Whilst I don't disagree with the telesafe number and pricing issue, I always had a lot of scammers call through Autotrader.
Don't under estimate the power of a few bits of paper in the windows too. Wash it and the car is it's own advert. Might appeal to someone looking for a small car, older especially who don't need five doors and are happy with an auto but wouldn't have a clue about getting online or searching for a Toyota. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Yes i understand the animosity to the secondary search spamming on ebay.
However most people only search for the usual default cars, completely overlooking alternatives, it only takes one buyer to see the car that they never previously considered and its worth it.0
