Estate Agent's Feedback

Signed up with a local EA and have asked them to show viewers around. After 1 week on the market we had our first viewing last week. we are still awaiting feedback from the EA - is this normal or should they have come back to us that day with feedback!!!!

Well, the viewers may not have given any feedback. Or the EA may be ineffecient and not asked for any. Give them a ring on Monday and find out.

My EA gave me feedback within a day or so when I was selling.

Estate agents promise all sorts of stuff to get your business.

    Delivery is another question!

Whether you are a buyer or seller, the advice is the same: chase.

We recently bought, but in the process of buying we looked at perhaps 6-9 houses. We were only asked once for feedback.

Do your estate agents ask the viewer's for feedback?
  • we just wanted to know what they liked and disliked about the house.

Have you asked them? Or are you expecting them to call you?
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • yes valhaller - was expecting them to call us !

Your expectations are perhaps a little unrealistic. If they don't deliver feedback, then ring them - although if this was over a week ago, they may well have forgotten. You are best to jump on them within 48 hours.

  • They may not ask for feedback from the viewers unless you press them to. I have viewed 3 houses so far, the first 2 are with the same agent and they didn't ask for any feedback whatsoever. Moreover, I made some noises about being interested in a second viewing for the 2nd house and they didn't even follow up on that! Turns out that we found a glaringly obvious reason why that house wasn't for us when we got home, but if I were the vendor for that house I would be absolutely livid that they didn't ask for feedback and ignored a clear expression of interest. The house is still on the market as well, so I know that they didn't ignore my interest because an offer had been received.

I would ask them if they have asked for feedback from viewers. If they say no, you ask why not, and if they say yes you ask why you haven't been given it. Either way you are receiving a bad service and should receive an explanation.

A lot of the feedback we did get was silly reasons and probably just ways of saying 'not really for us' when we sold, and when I was pushed for feedback on our purchasing, this time last year, lots was just 'not for us' or things that couldn't be changed (e.g. layout, or being at the end of an unadopted road etc)
