What are my employment rights?

I started this job on 01 October 2012 and took with me 9 years service with another local authority. I completed my probation period in February. Am I classed as being in first year of employment with no rights or is my service eleswhere counted and I am not in my first year?
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

It was a promotion but I had to apply externally and the new local authority then take the previous service and continue it - so I now have 10 years continuous service for counting leave and sick pay etc, but I'm not sure if it means I am in my first year or not?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Check your wage slips and see if you still have the same employee number.Bad luck breeds bad luck.

You should have written particulars of employment. One of the first items will be the date from which your continuous employment began. Sometimes it will be that your employment began on Z date (in your case this would be when you started the job with your current employer) and continuous employment began on Y date (which may be the same date or the earlier date which includes service prior to joining them).0

You'll be in your first year of employment with the current local authority but your continuous service counts for things like sick leave, maternity/paternity leave and redundancy...some LAs also consider continuous service when calculating annual leave but this varies.
Why are you concerned about it being the first year anyway? Are you aware that rules about dismissal changed and you now need 2 years service with an employer before being able to claim wrongful dismissal?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
