Nokia N80 is a Symbian v3 smartphone. It will only run TomTom Navigator 6.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

It might not work, but as far as I can tell not because of the reasons you mention.
Autorun.exe gives the following error messege -
"Can't find autorun or (one of its components) ...". I suspect this is because WM5 has a different directory structure to W2003. There is no autorun.inf file which can be edited so I think it must be hard coded in the autorun.exe file. The software is not just compatible with pocket pcs. It works with windows mobile 2003 and 2003se (Phone editions) as stated in the supported operating systems on the packaging itself. It also doesn't need a touch screen according to its instructions. It will work using the toggle bar.1. There are no illustrations of SmartphonesNowhere are there any alternative instructions for accessing these functions using the toggle bar.
2. There is no mention of soft keys anywhere
3. The section on toggle bar lists just basic operations and when you get further into the manual you find such things asTo calculate and display your route, tap <symbol>
To display the address without calculating the route, tap <another symbol>
To add the address as a Favourite, tap <a third symbol>
Scroll the map by dragging the stylus, then lifting it off the map.
So I still say this software will not work with this phone. It might be possible with a lot of !!!!!!!g around but, to be honest, you'd be better off paying the £20 or so for Route66 with 2006/2007 maps than wasting time trying to get this to work with its 2004 maps.
My advice is use the GPS device (it's a bit chunky but works just fine), back up the software to your PC (just in case) and put the SD card in a camera.Anyone managed to get this wokring with a Nokia n80.
Or infact any other nokia? I am abit worried that It won't pair correctly. Also what size is the navman sd card? And can it be formated?
The SD card is a full size card and AFIK can be reused.0 -

no offence taken, only throwing in my 10 cents as a current user, indeed SirfIII was what i meant, i'm sure we all made typos before.
Re the spec required I don't dispute it will work fine on a normal smartphone, i used to use tomtom on my old Orange thing. All i was saying is that if you are planning on using it to find the nearest gas station, service station, cash point, zoo, cinema etc etc IT WILL crash. I'm not arguing my point-it's fact, i've seen it many many times, indeed a simple google search wil confirm this.#
Figured it would be useful for anybody who may use it for that to know.0 -
looks like I'm a couple of steps behind you zenmaster (but catching up). I did the application unlock and still get the autorun file missing message.
Also wondered about the things that it implies need to tap screen for.
Oh well. Got to decide whether to buy route 66. Will end up meaning £60 for all the satnav part. What started out as a cheap way of getting satnav is getting more and more expensive. Maybe I'll just cut my losses and sell on the navman.

Hi
I am trying to find something that will work with the Nokia E65 - the phone already has some navigation software and I was told it needs only a GPS receiver. From what I read hear the product from the OP will not work on it and the Tom Tom Mobile 5 or GPS receiver will work only on some Nokia phones but the E65 is not listed.I have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !0 -
Nokias have a Symbian OS, not Windows, so this software will definitely not work. The best deal for Nokias at the moment is here, though it only covers a few phones (not n80, but n70 and n90 are there). There were loads more last week but I can't find them now - maybe they have sold out? Anyway, for £35 (with Google checkout) you get TomTom and the official TomTom GPS device which, on its own, is £48.00 (with GC).

I answered this already, yet you are post links which are completely useless to the person with the phone.
The N80 will not run TTM5.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

No, TTM5 won't work on your phone. I'm repeating myself here, it seems. Why I'm answering you again, I don't know...after all, I answered your question before, yet got no reply.
This is what you need (as I stated in my earlier post - TomTom Navigator 6):

sockpuppetuk wrote: »You want a BT receiver with the Sirf III chipset, not Sirf II.
Sirf III is much faster at locking on to the satellite signal and keeping it when you go through tunnels or drive through an area with high mountains etc.Or RFMD which has similar properties but uses much less power.
Another good reason for choosing one of these newer generation Bluetooth GPS chipsets is that in most cases they can be kept out out of sight of prying eyes (ie in the glovebox, instead of on the dashboard) and still get a satellite lock.
If used on foot/bike one of these newer chipsets would also get better reception (used in pocket) around tall buildings etc. as well as being phsyically smaller.
So, depending on your needs it may be worth the extra £15 or so more above the Navman one.
Which is STILL an excellent low cost find for a basic setup!.(especially with the Lobster 700TV phone! even if you discard the bundled software )
Look at the offer available and look at what you'll be using it for (what phone Vs what kind of GPS usage)!
Pays your money....Diff'rent Strokes etc!...:cool::cool: :A0 -
