Hi was wondering if anyone could give me any advice re claiming a small pension under the age of 55. My pension company gave me a certificate of incapacity form to be signed by my gp. I handed it in to the surgery and went to collect it a week later. The form had not been filled in and there was a typed letter in the envelope saying " dr g feels he is unable to complete this form. The form asks him to confirm that you will be incapable of working, possibly till retirement age. He does not feel he can support this statement. I have multiple health problems, which my gp is obviously aware of and so I cannot understand the lack of support from him and don't know hat steps I should take next... any advice greatly appreciated.. thanks

Your first step is to actually make an appt to see your GP (as you should have done instead of handing this form in over the counter).
If he feels you can work or will be able to in future, it is his right not to sign the form for you. If you feel he is wrong (after he explains his decision for you) then by all means get a second opinion.
But, if he does not change his mind, early retirement on health grounds is going to not be on the cards for you. You cannot get to your pension under the age of 55 min (and could be older depending on your scheme- have you checked it?). Anyone who says they can for you, is operating an illegal scam.
It is off to the CAB for you to get some help finding out your options.0 -
My only suggestion would be to make an appointment with the GP and ask just that question.0

Well, it sounds like the GP thinks your medical conditions should not stop you from working.
Which is repeating what you already know, i know, but there's not much more we can say is there?0
