ESA and carers allowance.

Hi, new to this, but here's my question. I am on means tested ESA in the WRAG. I look after my elderly mother. I have not claimed carers allowance before as I was previously on Contribution based. I have to attend a training centre to keep my ESA. I am finding it very difficult with my illnesses, looking after my mother and now going to training courses. If I claim carers allowance, would this exempt me from the WRAG part of my ESA? I understand that I probably get a reduced rate of Carers Allowance, but for me my main concern is getting out of this WRAG as I am finding it very difficult to cope. My mother requires watching near on 24/7. Many thanks for any advice that can be given.
