Electricity -£70 - seems quite high. Is this for arrears? Do you have gas?
Housekeeping-£300 - how many is this for?
Travel-£80 - what does this include? Would it be cheaper to buy a weekly bus pass? Or similar?

    Thanks.

Yes the electricity amount is with arreas. Not much I can do about that!

Housekeeping if for myself and daughter including food at around £50 a week , clothes for my daughter and her guitar lessons.
Its hard to break it down completely .Would I have to for the C.card companies?

The transport is based on minimum petrol consumption and forgot to add £21 car insurence and havent allowed for mot and tax.
I guess it will have to come out of housekeeping money and will have to eat air at that point!
No money for emergencies as in vets.

Although I have in the past been frivoulous with credit cards they are so useful for emergencies.Wish I had some credit left , but up to my limits !

I have tried to be as fair as I can with cc offers.
Do you think they will be accepted?

Hi there. Perhaps you could give CCCS or payplan a call (details at the top of these boards) - they will have lots of info about what would be acceptable for spending eg housekeeping as far as creditors are concerned, and what would constitute a reasonable offer to your creditors.

You don't have to follow a DMP with these people, but they are free, and impartial so are a very useful point of contact for information and advice.

Of course, if you get on with them, you can use them for a DMP, but you have the knowledge that they will not charge you for doing so, so at least all your money would be going towards paying off your debts, rather than lining someone's pockets!

    Good luck!

    Hi There.

Well Done on facing your debts and making the brave step of trying to deal with them.

I too am a single parent just 40. I was not behind with any of my credit card or loan payments but I found myself even having to pay for food shopping with my cc because after all my payments had gone out there was nothing left.

You will see by my signature that my debt is similar to yours.

I went to the CCCS website and put in my details and for the first time in years I was honest about it. After putting in your details it comes up with a variety of solutions and you choose the one you feel is right for you. I rang CCCS after doing this and we agreed that for me the best thing was a DMP.

What I am trying to say is I know how you feel and it is really scary at first when you have your lightbulb moment. Don't let fear deter you give CCCS (or CAB or Payplan) a ring. They are fantastic, they will not judge and will work out a solution that is best for you and your family.

If you do decide on a DMP please feel free to join us on the DMP Mutual Support Thread, we are all in the same position to varying degrees and will help/ support all we can.

Good Luck in your path to becoming Debt - Free.
