Hi there, I admit it, I found this forum and i am now hooked.
I have been had it for a week now, applying for everything and anything with the exception that I am keeping facebook entries to a select view as I have a fanbase of my own as an artist (real life job) and dont want to mess that up by pushing too many comps at them.
My question is simple really... I seem to be spending hours doing this now and I want too know is there anything I should be doing to make life easier and make the full use of my time.
I am concentrating on the forum itself with just a few extra comps here and there and trying to keep one day ahead of the closing dates when using the system on here that allows you to see all the entries in date order.
I have set up a specific gmail account, made lots of drafts with my details on for email comps and I ahve set up roboform too to help with the form filling.
Does anyone have any more advice that might help me.
Sorry to seem so vauge but this is all new to me, but exciting too...x
I cant wait to see that first WEM, or recieve that first package in the post.... I am patient and know it will happen sometime so certainly not expecting a miracle start to all this.
Just want to get more involved and be a litle more professional and organised in my approach to comping.

Back Comping in 2024!0 -
I usually enter my competitions 3 days ahead and then go back each day to check if new ones have been added. I find this helps for the days where you don't have that much time to enter loads of competitions so it gives you a bit of room where you could do more the next day if that makes sense?

This is helpful if you have time to read it0 -
thank you both, I am trying to get more ahead of myself but blimey there are so many...
Oh and Brown handbag, seeing your list of wins and those of others certainly gives me inspiration...
Oh Somerset too, dont think were neighbours lol
I tried doing more twitter RTs today but it almost became a swamped profile, as now I seem to have picked up a selection of comping followers my timeline cant seem to keep up.
i did notice that some people seem to just keep RTing the same post over and over again... Surely that rules them out of the game doesnt it.
Oh and yesterday I realised that ITv can give you multiple entries for the same number so had to go back over all the pages trying to find the old ones i had only done one entry on... like I said still learning x0 -
just get stuck in you'll work your way around after a few goes, there's a lot to read through here's some of my tiny suggestions out of all the things you can do to start, some will seem idiotically obvious once you have done it a bit and know, but hey if you don't know its really hard to get
stickys are at the top of the forum and will never move comps start underneath them
make a facebook account for competitions it's so so easy to enter them you just like and share everything,(don't be scared of facebook comps) I've got/made great friends support contact and wins off face book.
links here are all in the posts just click and it takes you to the comp details just follow instructions mostly to enter comp by adding your details,
use four forward and back button a lot
thank and tick so you know you've entered,
don't be scared to contribute and comment and join in sometimes there's the odd narky comment reply but don't be put off by that or if you get one don't take it personally you never know what's going on in peoples lives that day and mainly everyone is super supportive and very generous (100% of the time in my experience)
Again don't be scared of Twitter comps, the same as facebook ones just register and you just follow and retweet and check mentions under every now and again to see if you've won
bumping is something that annoys people because you comment on an active comp and it moves it to the top
use search forum box - top right of forum to sort comps or find them by date/item etc (allows advanced search try when you are familiar with it)
comps are listed by header with end date in E: 09/11 format and prize description also adds fb for Facebook and effort if its n=more than just adding name and details
compwitiion and rafflecopter are quick competition apps again just click on details that come up
wem is winning email, wtc winning telephone call
the boards go crazy if there is an ITV win!
watch out for tick boxes for minimising junk mail bit accept you will get a lot, A LOT! of junk mail!
and finally enjoy it and wait for the wins!
this in no way is meant to replace any user guides which are really brilliantly informative they are just quick things off the top of my head that made it easier for me when I started
at least try once a day to say well done to someone who has won, i never used to but when i did win it was so so lovely to get the messages I do that now
not quite mastered dupes yet only spotted 1 in 2 years!
hope that helps a bit
and this is the last and most important bit, follow these 2 rules
do not talk about competitions mse form
and 2nd rule, do not talk about competitions mse forum!
the less people know the more chances we have of winning but no one will ever tell you this ha ha - ((obvs joking) I'm not joking!)0 -

I really wouldn't advise this as people have had Facebook bans for having multiple accounts especially as you already have a fanbase for your work.0 -
I have made myself a new twitter account as they said that was allowed, so that will free my true profile up for my usual ramblings.
Oh and i seem to be suffering from a blister on my keying finger, that will teach me for not learning proper typing in school0 -

Re: is there any websites to stay away from?
If its posted on here it is usually OK but if not someone usually posts any doubts.
Re: should I provide my address if its part of the application/entering process? what about my dob too?
If the address is asked for it will be needed to post your wins. Some use a false comping DOB but that is up to you it may present issues if ID is asked for on a prize claim.
Personally my DOB has a "typo" in it when I comp :-)0 -
