i agree a transcript is proof enough, i lost my degree cert for my 1st dregree and all i had to give in was my transcript to prove it. it costs between 10 and 12 quid and they have to send you this by law if you request it.
    hope this helps:cool:

So how do i request a transcript?

Thanks for all you responses so far guys!

speak to the student admin folks they will tell you what to do. the wife needed one from the mmu for the ou and another from the ou to rgu. she never had to pay for them.

would this be statute barred now anyway?
I know it's not relevant to the OP getting a certificate, but doesn't the CCJ mean that it won't go statute barred?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Good point. OP's potential claim for a certificate has become statute barred ....
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

I've done some googling and apparently the uni can also hold transcripts until the debt has been paid off :(.

However, i have found good information on the ICO website. Someone also posted about 'subject access requests' above.

It says i CAN request information and the only way i they can withhold my info is if the info involves somebody else or i may hinder a criminal investigation or it will cost them a lot of money to get my info. Which none of them are the case.

So by using a 'subject access request' i SHOULD be able to obtain some sort of sheet of paper stating my results. Right?

Correct, but no guarantee that the University will accept 'some sort of sheet of paper' - it might even include a statement something like "Qualification not awarded."

Today i received this email from the university:

    "Good Morning Adymole,

Thank you for your recent enquiry with regards to a replacement certificate. Unfortunately due to an outstanding financial commitment you have with the university I am unable to assist you at this time.

Please contact our finance department on **** ******* to discuss the matter further.

Once the matter has been resolved I can issue you with your certificate.

    Kind Regards

    **** ******
    Administrator, Academic Registery"

Where do i go from here?

I take it i'll have to call the finance department up and find out exactly how much the debt is and then offer them a smaller upfront single payment to satisfy the balance? If so, what's the best way of doing this?

Thanks again for all your help so far.

I'd try and request the transcript, as previously suggested in this thread.

    Good luck
