Nasonex Nasal Spray

Hi,

Does anyone know please if there is a generic spray for Nasonex nasal spray (mometasone furoate)?

My doctor prescribed it and I was trying to see if it was possible to get it cheaper than on prescription. It actually seems more than on a standard prescription.

Generic just means unbranded a little like supermarket baked beans compared with Heinz, but that is not related to the licensing category. I think you are looking for a product you can purchase from behind the pharmacy counter (P)? You can't purchase mometasone, it's prescription only (POM) sorry.

There are a couple of corticosteroid nasal sprays that are pharmacy only and cheaper than a prescription IIRC, are those unsuitable for you? Speak to the pharmacist and they will be able to tell you what you can buy, then ask your GP.

Constantly stuffed up nose. Dr recommended taking it for a couple weeks. After day 4 I had extreme rage. I would flip out over the slightest thing like someone cutting me off driving.

I was on it for years, it stopped doing its job and now on a different prescription.

Oh and I have a hole up my nose from having to use steroid inhalers over the years. But the doctor said, "No tablets will not work." I was advised to use once a day only and one puff up each side. I had to lay across the bed with head upside down to make sure it went up.

Can i ask what you're using now instead of Nasonex? I've been on Nasonex for a few years now but finding it's becoming less effective. I saw my GP recently and asked her to prescribe an alternative. She prescribed some Cetirizine tablets and whilst they do relieve my allergies, they leave me feeling groggy all day so have gone back to Nasonex.

I was only on nasonex for one month when it lost its affectiveness on me! I was given it due to tonsillitis of the adenoids, and found that after a while, it was making my mucous production worse. The only thing that stopped it, was not taking anything!

As nasonex is prescription only as it does contain steroids, I doubt you will find it cheaper, as all prescriptions are the same NHS price.
