Thank you Flo, not sure if mum actually wanted it read but it felt the right thing to do. Had backup plan Mr TS was going to if I couldn't and we were going to stand together but I knew as soon as I stood up I was going to be fine and stopped him from coming out to the front with me. I even managed to say bit before about how I had found it and after how poignant it was to me. Not a dry eye in the church. The Rector was surprised how well I read it and Mr TS said I made him proud. :D
And everyone here too Tinyshoes, you know that every time I read your name I remember my Mum saying to me in the hospital the day my Dad lost his fight that, 'even my feet feel shrunk today', I had joked that if that was the case she could now buy some 'tinyshoes'.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

Sort of - she's still gone to bed early though grrr! :rotfl:

I'm sat munching on a tub of 600 Swizzles Matlow cola bottles. They're the closes thing I've found to old-style flat cola bottles. I've probably eaten 100 already :o:o:o

I love black humour. And it's something about funerals that brings out a touch of the surreal. Probably because everyone's thoughts are somewhere else and unexpected things catch you out.

The only way me and my eldest brother got through the last few months with my mum was with black humour - I'd never have coped without him. I can even remember back to some really tough times my mum had with my dad and me and mum would still find something to giggle at together. Life's too short to be miserable.
