Cats, huh.....
mine is seventeen and stays out for two or three days at a time.
Then he returns like a lion, making such a noise and bowling in.
Eats practically nothing and out he goes again.....to next door who does exactly the same as me.
If he had his way he would have us opening the door every ten minutes.
Sometimes he howls (or growls) to come in then just sits there laughing at me.
